What does the Budget Committee do?
A budget committee is a short cut for spending money on projects. It is used to spend money on things that are more possible of happening if supported. The budget helps to make a more productive economy with health care, becoming more green so that using foreign oil is lessened, Sell Grants and for education to ensued more people have the opportunity to go to college.

What do these people do?
Their roles are to go over and debate budget drafts from the government and to authorize spending to put their plan into effect.
Current bills/ work of the committee-
Their problem is that they are having is that the economy is not getting much better and with the Congress to keep spending money it will get worse. There is a chance that they are going to get threats of being bankrupt in within future generations.
John Spratt is the Chairman of the House Budget committee. He was first elected to Congress in 1982. The state calls him “a bridge builder who can reach across party lines.” He grew up in York, South Carolina. He graduated from York High School and Davidson Collge. He was student body president at both schools. He studied economics at Oxford where he got a Marshall Scholarship there. He earned a law degree from Yale and served as a captain in the Army. He has received a Meritorious Service Medal. He is a second ranking Democrat on the House Armed Services Committee and serves on three subcommittees which are; oversight and investigations, strategic forces, and air and land forces. He co-chairs the Textile Caucus, the Bearing Caucus, and the Nuclear Energy Caucus.
Allyson Schwartz is the Vice Chairman of the House Budget Committee. She is serving her 3rd term representing the 13th congressional district in Pennsylvania. She served as a member in the Pennsylvania State Senate from 1990 to 2004. In Schwartz second congressional term she was put in charge of tax, trade and revenue raising measure, Medicare, and Social Security. On the Budget Committee, she is an outspoken critic of deficit spending. She believes that the nation needs to reduce its debt and redirect their policies to meet the priorities of American families. She helped form the Children's Health Insurance Program which was put into act in 1992. Schwartz main focus is health care. She also wants to make America more energy independent and reduce global warming. Allyson is a member of the centrist New Democratic Coalition. She was appointed to serves as a member of the House Democracy Assistance Commission by Nancy Pelosi.
Sub Committees
Some of the subcommittees include national defense, international affairs, energy, transportation, health, Medicare, income security, and social security. There are 20 subcommittees total.
National defense includes military activities of the Department of Defense, nuclear weapon related activities of the Department of energy, the national security activities of several other agencies such as the Selective Service Agency, and other things. The programs in this subcommittee include the pay and benefit of active, Guard, and reserve military personnel, health care for military personnel, and research and development.
International affairs includes operating U.S. embassies and consulates throughout the world, provides military assistance to allies, aiding developing nations, promoting U.S. exports abroad, making U.S. payments to international organizations, and contributing to international peacekeeping efforts. Funding for all of those activities constitutes about one percent of the federal budget. The major agencies in this subcommittee include the Departments of Agriculture, State, and the Treasury, the Millennium Challenge Corporation, and the United States agency for International Development.
